Nepal to face Uganda in women’s T20I series

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - The national women’s cricket team of Nepal is all set to play an international women’s T20I series against Uganda at home ground in mid-May. According to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Nepal will play 5 WTOI matches against Uganda at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. This is the first time that the national women’s cricket team of Nepal will be playing an international cricket match at home ground. Prior to this, the women’s team had played regional cricket match during the 13th South Asian Games in 2019 in Pokhara. The match against Uganda will be considered as an T20I match and will be crucial for  improving  Nepal’s ICC ranking. Nepal is currently ranked 16th in the world ranking while Uganda is 19th. Nepal beat Zimbabwe A to win ODI series

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Nepal defeated Test-playing nation Zimbabwe A in their third ODI match on Monday to win the series 2-1. The hosts defeated Zimbabwe by 6 wickets in the third and final match of the ODI series at TU Cricket Ground on Monday. Nepal met the target of 214 runs in 31 overs during the match that was reduced to 33 overs due to rainfall. Kushal Bhurtel and Dipendra Singh Airee scored half centuries to help Nepal meet the target. Bhurtel played an explosive innings to set the tone for Nepal’s victory. With the victory, the visitors took a 1-0  lead in the three-match ODI series being held in Kathmandu valley. Zimbabwe successfully chased a modest target of 137 runs for victory at the TU Cricket Ground in 26 overs losing 7 wickets. CAN announces 18-member squad for U1-9 Women’s World Cup qualifiers

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Cricket Association of Nepal has announced an 18-member team for the upcoming U-19 Women’s World Cup Asia Region Qualifiers in the second phase. The 18-member team was announced on Monday after shortlisting players from the preliminary squad of 44 players. The qualifiers for next year’s world cup will be held in Malaysia next month. CAN had initially called 44 players for training camp out of which 26 players did not make it to the next round. The players were called for the training on the basis of their performance during the U-19 National Championship held in Dhangadhi two months ago. Nepal will face Oman in ICC World Cup League-2 opener in USA

The series will be held in the USA starting from the second week of June. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the match schedule between Nepal, Oman and the USA.  Nepal will play their first match against Oman on June 9. CAN to organise Nepal T20 Cricket League in September

CAN informed during a press meet on Monday that it took permission from the National Sports Council two months ago to organize the league. According to CAN, Indian company Seven Three Sports will be the strategic partner of the  event. CAN has already signed an eight-year contract worth Rs 330 million with the Indian company to organize the league.
