By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Hosts USA defeated Scotland by 104 runs in their ICC World Cup League 2 match, thanks to a superb bowling by fast bowler Saurabh Netravalkar. Chasing a mammoth total of 311 runs for victory, Scotland were all out for 206 runs in 46.1 overs. Scotland’s Geroge Munsey topscored 54 runs off 53 balls that included 7 boundaries and a six. CAN hikes remuneration of cricketers with great disparity among male and female players

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has increased the remuneration of male and female cricketers who have signed central contracts with the cricket governing body of Nepal. A board meeting of CAN on Tuesday took a decision to this effect. CAN has increased the remuneration of male players by Rs 10,000 in each grade. Prior to this, Grade A players used to earn Rs 50,000, while Grade B and C players used to receive monthly remuneration of Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000. Now, the remunerations of Grade A, B and C players have been fixed at Rs 60,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively. CAN announces teams for T-20 League

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has unveiled the names of six teams that will play in the Nepal T-20 League.  According to CAN’s Acting Secretary Prashant Malla,  the six teams were selected by the CAN's board meeting on Tuesday.     The League will be held from September 24 to October 22 this year. The league will have teams from Biratnagar, Janakpur, Katahmandu,  Pokhara, Lumbini and Far West. Since CAN will be organizing its own league, other leagues will not get national recognition from now onwards. Other franchise-based leagues such as Everest Premier League, Pokhara Premier League and Dhangadhi Premier League will not get recognition anymore. A formal porgramme between the two countries related to sports was held this week after seven and a half decades of diplomatic relations. That too in the initiative of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). Nepal’s national cricket team is heading to the USA this week to participate in the World Cup League-2. CAN appoints Kritika Marasini as the captain of Nepal’s U-19 women’s cricket team

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has appointed Kritika Marasini as the captain of the U-19 national women's cricket team of Nepal. Seventeen-year-old Marasini plays domestic cricket representing Lumbini Province.  She was adjudged the best bowler during the B and R Cup held in China in 2019. Her performance has been exemplary in domestic cricket. The five players are ineligible to compete in the event because players below 15 years are not allowed to play in that particular age-group tournament. Other players who have been deprived the opportunity include Tika Shah, Sabitri Dhami, Pratima Shah and Manisha Chaudhary. By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Hosts Nepal were beaten by visitors Uganda by 12 runs in their first match of the women’s T20 series at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground on Monday. With this victory, Uganda have taken a 1-0 lead  in the five-match series. Nepal, chasing a target of 103 runs for victory, managed to score only 90 runs in the allotted 20 overs losing 9 wickets.
