Hosts USA thrashes Scotland by 104 runs

Kathmandu – Hosts USA defeated Scotland by 104 runs in their ICC World Cup League 2 match, thanks to a superb bowling by fast bowler Saurabh Netravalkar.

Chasing a mammoth total of 311 runs for victory, Scotland were all out for 206 runs in 46.1 overs. Scotland’s Geroge Munsey topscored 54 runs off 53 balls that included 7 boundaries and a six. Likewise, Calum MacLeod contributed 40 runs followed by 28 runs by captain Kyle Coetzer and 24 by Richie Berrington.

USA’s Saurabh Netravalkar took 5 wickets in 10 overs giving away 45 runs. He also became the first cricketer of the USA to register a five-wicket haul. Nisarga Patel took two wickets for the hosts.

Earlier, the USA opted to bat first in Pearland and amassed a massive total of 310 runs in 50 overs losing 5 wickets. USA opener Sushant Modani topscored 77 runs off 92 balls that included 6 boundaries. Unbeaten Gajanand Singh scored a quickfire 60 off 39 balls. His innings included 8 boundaries and a six.

Likewise, another opener Steven Taylor contributed 42 runs, Captain Monak Patel scored 29 and Aaron Jones scored 35 while Nisarga Patel added 34 runs.

Scotland’s Adrian Neil took two wickets.

The USA is playing a triangular series against Scotland and the UAE under the league. Following this series, the USA will face Oman and Nepal in the League 2 series.

The USA is fourth in the league with 8 wins and 9 losses from 17 matches. Scotland is second with 11 wins and 4 defeats in 17 matches.

Nepal is sixth in the standings with 6 wins and 6 losses from 12 matches.
