Kathmandu – Nepali women’s national cricket team suffered a 6-wicket defeat against Uganda in the third match of their T20I series at the TU Cricket Ground on Thursday. With the third straight defeat, the hosts have lost the five-match series 3-0 with two games to play.
Chasing a modest target of 100 runs for victory, Uganda reached the target in 18.2 overs losing 4 wickets. Uganda’s opener Kevin Abino topscored 42 runs off 51 balls.
Nepal’s Kabita Kunwar took 2 wickets while Indu Berma and Rubina Chhetri bagged a wicket each.
Earlier, opting to bat first after winning the toss at the TU Cricket Ground, Nepal made 99 runs in the allotted 20 overs losing 8 wickets. Nepal’s opener Jyoti Pandey contributed 47 runs off 54 balls that included 5 boundaries. She was bowled out by Fiona Kulume in the 19th over. She missed the opportunity of becoming the first Nepali batswoman to score a half century by just 3 runs.
Fiona Kulume took two wickets for Uganda giving away 23 runs.
Nepal had lost the first match against Uganda by 12 runs and the second match by 1 wicket. The fourth match is scheduled for Friday and the fifth and final match will be played on Saturday.
