Nepal beat Oman in ICC World Cup Cricket League-2

By a Staff Reporter A five-wicket haul by Karan KC and a record partnership between openers Kushal Bhurtel and Asif Sheikh helped Nepal register an easy win over Oman in the ICC World Cup Cricket League -2 on Tuesday. Nepal defeated Oman by seven wickets in the match held at Houston-based Moosa Stadium in Texas, USA to register their first victory in the USA tour for the triangular series. The victory also helped Nepal climb one spot in League 2. During Tuesday’s match, Oman opted to bat first after winning the toss and scored 163 runs losing all its wickets in 46.5 overs.  Nepal met the target of 164 runs in 33.1 overs losing three wickets. ICC lifts suspension imposed on CAN

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fully lifted the suspension imposed on Cricket Association of Nepal. Earlier, the ICC had conditionally lifted the suspension on CAN more than two and a half years after it elected a new executive committee headed by incumbent president Chatur Bahadur Chand. CAN informed on Tuesday that the ICC had fully lifted the ‘control funding’ it had been imposing on the cricket governing body of Nepal. The Cricket Association of Nepal can now receive financial grants on par with the Associate Nations with ODI status and can conduct its financial activities accordingly. By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Cricket Association of Nepal bade farewell to the national women’s cricket team of Nepal to participate in the ACC Women’s T-20 Championship to be held in Malaysia. The event will kick off on Friday. National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising as well as office bearers of CAN bade them farewell amid a programme on Tuesday The 14-member team under the captaincy of Rubina Chhetri Belbase will head towards Malaysia on Wednesday. The event will be held from June 17 to 25. Nepal is drawn in Group B along with Hong Kong, Kuwait, Bhutan and Bahrain. Group A includes the UAE, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar and Singapore. Cricket Association of Nepal has announced a 15-member team headed by Rubina Chhetri Belbase. Middle-order batswoman Sarita Magar has been left out of the team. ICC Unveils Match Schedule for Triangular Series in Scotland

 By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the match schedule for the next triangular one day series under the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2. Under the series, Nepal will face Namibia and hosts Scotland from June 11 to 17 after completing triangular series against USA and Oman. According to the ICC, Nepal will face Namibia in its first match on July 11. Similarly, it will take on Scotland and Namibia in its second and third matches on July 13 and 16 respectively. By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Nepali national cricket team reached Houston on Sunday ahead of a triangular series against the USA and Oman under the ICC World Cup League 2. A 22-member team that left Nepal on Saturday reached the George Bush Airport in the USA on Sunday. Upon reaching Houston, the team took rest and then celebrated the birthday parties of batsman Dev Khanal and physiotherapist Bikram Neupane.
