Heroes’ welcome for women’s team as men’s team gets hardly noticed

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - The women’s volleyball team of Nepal returned home to a heroes’ welcome on Thursday after lifting the title of the AVC Central Zone Volleyball Championship held in Bangladesh from December 23 to 28. On the other hand, the men’s volleyball team which finished fourth in the same tournament return home crestfallen. It is said that the winners create history. Nepal’s volleyball teams to return home on Thursday

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - The national volleyball teams of Nepal – both men’s and women’s teams – will return home on Thursday after participating in the AVC Central Zone Volleyball Championship held in Bangladesh from December 23 to 28. The women’s team of Nepal had won the title while the men’s team had finished third in the event. The Nepali delegation including the national squads, referees, and officials will all return back on Thursday. By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Defending champions Nepal have lifted the title of AVC Central Zone Volleyball Championship in the women’s section for a second straight time. Nepal defeated Uzbekistan in the second edition of the championship held in Bangladesh on Tuesday to retain the title. Nepal were unbeaten throughout the championship. Defending champions Nepal defeated Uzbekistan in straight sets during their match held in  Mirpur, Dhaka on  Sunday. Unbeaten Nepal claimed the first set 25-20. By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - The men’s volleyball team of Nepal defeated the Maldives in their last match of the league round of the AVC Asian Central Zone Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Championship on Sunday. Nepal defeated the Maldives in straight sets of 3-0 during the match held in Mirpur, Dhaka. Although Nepal maintained the lead from the beginning, they had to struggle to win the first set 27-25. Nepal won the second set 25-19 and the third set 25-23 to complete the rout. This is the second victory of Nepal during the championship. Nepal defeat Uzbekistan in Asian volleyball championship

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Underdogs Nepal defeated Uzbekistan in the AVC Asian Central Zone Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Championship in Bangladesh on Friday to register their first win. Nepal bounced back from a first set defeat to beat Uzbekistan in 3-1 sets in course of registering their first victory in the championship underway in Bangladesh. Nepal had lost the first set 18-25 but bounced back to win the second set 25-21 and third set 25-18 with ease. The last set was a tough fight in which Nepal prevailed over Uzbekistan with a score of 25-23. Earlier, Nepal had lost their opening match against hosts Bangladesh in straight sets. Hosts Bangladesh, the Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan are competing in the men’s section of the championship.
