By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Jharana Shrestha, an emerging volleyball player of the renowned New Diamond Sports Club, has decided to quit the game. She was included in the preliminary squad of the national volleyball team of Nepal. Shrestha said that she decided to quit the game because of family issues. “I have decided to quit this fame because of family issues. I am feeling awkward to quit my favourite sports all of a sudden,” said Shrestha, who is considered to be a rising player. “I was planning to quit the game after the upcoming NVA Cup but I had to leave the game early due to family issues. By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Haryana Sports Club of India have lifted the title of the eighth edition of Sagarmatha Cement Prime Minister Cup International Invitational Women’s Volleyball Championship on Monday. The visiting team defeated Nepal Police Club in straight sets in the title clash held at the covered hall of Nepalgunj Stadium. Haryana had to struggle hard to win the first set 26-24. Police were lagging behind 18-24 but managed to score six consecutive points to tie the set at 24-24, but they couldn’t give continuity to the winning form and conceded the set. By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Defending champions Armed Police Club has decided not to compete in the Sagarmatha Cement Prime Minister Cup Invitational Women’s Volleyball Championship which is scheduled to kick off in Nepalgunj this week. The eighth edition of the PM Cup will begin at the Covered Hall of Nepalgunj on Thursday. APF volleyball team’s manager Bijay KC informed that the club decided not to compete in this year’s event as their star player is in injury layoff while other crucial players of the team are also busy in internal training of the Armed Police Force. During a press meet in Nepalgunj on Wednesday, TS Thakuri, president of Banke District Volleyball Association – organizer of the event – said that the tournament will be held from March 24 to 28 this year at the covered hall of Nepalgunj Stadium. Spiker Saraswati Chaudhary to undergo knee surgery

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Saraswati Chaudhary, a national volleyball player and star spiker of APF Club, has to undergo surgery of her left knee. Chaudhary informed that doctors have advised her to undergo a surgery after an MRI test showed problems in her meniscus and cartilage. She has already been admitted to Balambu-based hospital of Armed Police Force on Sunday. The surgery has been fixed for Monday. Chaudhary informed that she sustained injury during the final match of AVC Central Zone Championship held in Bangladesh about a month ago.
