Army, Police storm into semis of Chief Minister Cup Volleyball C’ship

Kathmandu – Title contenders Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Police Club have reached the semifinals of the Chief Minister Cup Men’s Volleyball Championship on Wednesday.

Both the departmental teams registered victories in the respective quarterfinal matches on Wednesday. Army defeated Province 1 in straight sets of 3-0 during the championship being held in Dhangadhi. Army dominated the one-sided match scoring 25-17, 25-21 and 25-9 as it eased to the semifinals. Army’s Durga Bahadur Khadka was adjudged the player of the match.

In another match, Police registered a straight sets victory over Karnali Province. The departmental team crushed Karnali Province 25-8, 25-9 and 25-15 to secure their place in the semifinals.

Sudur Paschim will face APF while Bagmati will lock horns with Gandaki Province in their quarterfinal matches on Thursday. The championship will run till March 26. The winners will be awarded Rs 400,000 while the runners-up will bag a purse of Rs 200,000 while the third position holders will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 100,000.
