Kathmandu – Gandaki Province secured a place in the final of the U-19 National Women’s Cricket Championship on Wednesday defeating Madhes Province by 20 runs during group-stage match held in Dhangadhi. Gandaki Province topped Group B to secure a place in the final.
Opting to bat first at Dhangadhi’s Fapla cricket ground, Gandaki posted a total of 107 runs in 20 overs losing 8 wickets. Jyotiska Marasini of Gandaki Province topscored 43 runs off 34 balls including 8 boundaries. Pratima Shah, Sana Prabin and Bimala Magar of Madhes Province took two wickets each.
Chasing a target of 108 runs for victory, Madhes Province managed to score only 87 runs in allotted 20 overs losing 6 wickets. Opener Elisa Yadav scored 33 runs off 55 balls for Madhes. Jyotsika Marasini and Aakriti Tiwari of Gandaki Province took a wicket each.
Group A includes Sudur Paschim Province, Karnali Province, Lumbini Province and Bagmati Province. Likewise, Group B had Province 1. Madhes Province, and Gandaki Province.
The team to reach final from Group A is yet to be decided. Karnali has registered the first two matches and is in a strong position to reach the final, which will be held this Friday.
