Nepal beat Maldives to register second consecutive win in women’s volleyball

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - The women’s national volleyball team of Nepal registered its second consecutive victory in the AVC Asian Central Zone Women's and Men's Volleyball Championship underway in Bangladesh. Earlier, Nepal had defeated Sri Lanka in 3-2 sets in their opening match of the women’s category on Thursday.   On Friday, defending champions Nepal won their match against the Maldives in straight sets at Saheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium located in Mirpur, Dhaka. By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Spikers Shanti Tharu and Kamana Bista have made their debut in the national  women’s volleyball team of Nepal during the AVC Asian Central Zone Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Championship underway in Bangladesh. They were present in the team that beat Sri Lanka in 3-2 sets during the opening match on Thursday. Kamana Bista played the first set of the match while Shanti Tharu took her place in their debut match. Both the players were included in the national team for the first time. By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - The men’s volleyball team of Nepal were beaten in straight sets by host Bangladesh during their opening match of the AVC Asian Central Zone Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Championship on Thursday. Nepal were beaten 3-0 in the match held at Shaheed Sohrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur. Dhaka. Nepal never posed any challenge to the hosts during the match. By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Setter Kripa Adhikari and middle blocker Manisha Chaudhary are back in the national women’s volleyball team once again. The two were included in the final list of 12 players announced by Nepal Volleyball Association on Saturday for the upcoming NVA Central Asian Zone Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Championship to be held in Bangladesh from December 21 to 29. Kripa Adhikari had returned back to the game last year after completing her training with the Nepalese Army. This is the first time she was included in the national team since then. Kathmandu (Hamro Khelkud) - New Diamond Academy, who have made their own name in Nepali Women's Volleyball, honored their former players in a farewell program on Saturday. All the players from New Diamond school who have played at the National level since the establishment of the academy were felicitated.
