Haryana Sports Club to face Nepal Police in title clash of PM Cup Volleyball

Kathmandu – India’s Haryana Sports Club will face Nepal Police Club in the title clash of the Eighth Sagarmath Cement Prime Minister Cup International Invitational Volleyball Championship.

Haryana defeated New Diamond Academy on Sunday to fix the title clash against Police, who saw off another departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club to secure a place in the final.

Haryana bounced back from the third set defeat to register a 25-17, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-16 win over New Diamond in a competitive match held at the covered hall of Nepalgunj Stadium.

In another semifinal, Police defeated Army in straight sets of 25-18, 25-23, 28-26. Kamana Bista of Nepal Police Club was adjudged the player of the match.

Army and New Diamond will now vie for the third place in a playoff scheduled for 11 am on Monday. The final will be held at 1 pm the same day.

The PM Cup carries maximum prize in volleyball with the winner entitled to win Rs 500,000 and the runners-up Rs 250,000. The third position holders will receive Rs 100,000.
