Nepalgunj – The eighth edition of Prime Minister Cup Invitational Women’s Volleyball Championship is all set to be held in Nepalgunj later this month.
During a press meet in Nepalgunj on Wednesday, TS Thakuri, president of Banke District Volleyball Association – organizer of the event – said that the tournament will be held from March 24 to 28 this year at the covered hall of Nepalgunj Stadium. Thakuri informed that the tournament is being held a little late this year than usual because of the threat of Covid-19 infection. The tournament used to be held within mid-March in the previous editions.
President Thakuri said that their aim is to establish the PM Cup as South Asia’s number one club championship. He further said that the top clubs of Nepal will feature in the event while efforts are being made to invite volleyball clubs from India as well.
APF have won the title of the championship for three times, which is the maximum time any team has won the title. Likewise, Nepal Police Club and Railway India of the neighbouring country have won the title two times each.
