Nepal’s volleyball teams to return home on Thursday

Kathmandu – The national volleyball teams of Nepal – both men’s and women’s teams – will return home on Thursday after participating in the AVC Central Zone Volleyball Championship held in Bangladesh from December 23 to 28.

The women’s team of Nepal had won the title while the men’s team had finished third in the event. The Nepali delegation including the national squads, referees, and officials will all return back on Thursday.

General Secretary of Nepal Volleyball Association Jitendra Bahadur Chand informed that the Nepali delegation will arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport at 11 am on  Thursday, December 30. Both the men’s and women’s team of Nepal have 12 players each, two coaches and one manager.

Han Abing, the head coach of the men’s volleyball team, will head back to his home in the Netherlands straight from Bangladesh. Officials of Nepal Volleyball Association have already bade him farewell in Bangladesh on Wednesday. He had arrived in Nepal in mid-November to train the men’s team with the support from FIVB.

The judges representing Nepal include Bijay KC and Purna Prasad Chaulagain. NVA’s acting president Yam Gurung, General Secretary Jitendra Bahadur Chand and Treasurer Sunkeshari Mali are also with the team.

The women’s team of Nepal had lifted the title defeating Uzbekistan 3-2 on Tuesday. It was the second consecutive title win of Nepal in the women’s section. On the other hand, the men’s team of Nepal finished fourth in the championship after losing the third-place playoff.
