Prince Thrashed By World No. 2, Santoo Eliminated In Prelims

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) - Nepal's 19-year-old badminton sensation Prince Dahal has tasted a heavy defeat in his first group encounter at the Paris Olympics 2024. Prince lost against world number two and reigning Olympics champion Viktor Axelsen in straight sets. Viktor proved too good for Prince as he raced past Prince 21-8 and 21-6. Earlier today, Nepal's table tennis star Santoo Shrestha was eliminated after losing in straight sets to Senegalese player Ibrahima Diaw. Despite a strong performance in the first set, Santoo lost 12-10. He struggled in the subsequent sets, losing 11-3, 11-4, and 11-5. The 19-year-old will compete in the Olympics through the Universality Quota, as confirmed by the World Badminton Federation (BWF) in a statement released on Saturday. Kathmandu (Hamro Khelkud) - Nepal have won the highest number of medals at the Nepal International Pickleball Championship 2024. Nepal finished the tournament with 53 medals in total, in a tournament jointly organized by the Nepal Super League (NSL) and Pickleball Association Nepal (PAN) at the National Tennis Court in Lalitpur. Nepal's medal tally included 20 gold medals, 13 silver and 20 bronzes. India finished second overall with 36 medals that comprised of nine gold, 16 silver and 11 bronze medals.
