Kathmandu – Rajendra Shakya has earned a berth in the quarterfinals of the 5th Dhana Laxmi Memorial National Squash Tournament.

Joining Rajendra in the quarterfinals are title contender Arhant Keshar Simha, Amir Blon, Umit Shakya, Nishant Agrawal, and Rashub Churwal, who all displayed their prowess on the court to secure their places in the final eight.
Rajendra Shakya’s path to the quarterfinal was sealed with an impressive victory over Dhir Pun, defeating him in a straight-set match with scores of 11-4, 11-5, and 11-6. Meanwhile, defending champion Arhant Keshar Simha dominated the match against Raj Kumar Shrestha, claiming a comfortable victory with scores of 11-1, 11-3, and 11-2, solidifying his spot in the quarterfinals.
In other pre-quarterfinal matches, Amir Blon, Umit Shakya, and Dipak Thapa outplayed their opponents Binayak Shrestha, Ratnakaji Shakya, and Prayag Joshi, respectively, all in straight-set victories.
Additionally, in the masters’ category for players over 50, Kishore Maharjan, Manoj Bahadur Shrestha, Dhir Pun, Pramod Shrestha, Dilip Nath Adhikari, Prabin Kanskar, Sudip Bahadur Singh, and Prajjwal Pradhan have successfully advanced to the quarterfinals.
The week-long tournament began on 6th August and run until 12th August, at the NSRA premises. In the Open Men’s and Women’s categories, the top three winners will receive NRs. 20,000, NRs. 15,000, and NRs. 5,000, respectively. Similarly, in the Men’s U19 category, the top three players will be rewarded with NRs. 11,000, NRs. 6,000, and NRs. 3,000, respectively.
