Agency – Nepal National Cricket Team’s All-Rounder Dipendra Singh Airee’s Montreal Tigers emerged victorious in the highly anticipated Global T20 Canada 2023 tournament, defeating Sandeep Lamichhane’s Surrey Jaguars by 5 wickets in a thrilling final.
In the intense clash held at CAA Centre, Brampton, the Montreal Tigers chased down the winning target of 131 runs losing 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. The match reached a nail-biting climax as the Tigers required 13 runs off the final 6 balls to secure the win.
It was the heroics of all-rounder Andre Russell that turned the tide in favor of the Montreal Tigers. Russell showcased his immense talent by smashing a crucial six off the last ball when the Tigers needed two runs to seal the victory. Adding to his remarkable performance, Russell had earlier struck a crucial six on the second ball of the last over, significantly boosting the Tigers’ chances of triumph.
During the chase, Dipendra Singh Airee, the talented all-rounder from the Nepal National Cricket Team, played a pivotal role for the Montreal Tigers. He contributed 16 runs, including a boundary, in 17 balls before retiring out in 17.6 overs. His contribution set the stage for Andre Russell to take charge and clinch the title for the Tigers.
