Nepal fell short against Bhutan with a final score of 61-55. Despite their efforts to stage a comeback, Nepal was unable to overturn the deficit they faced in the first quarter. Bhutan started the game strongly and finished the first quarter with a commanding 21-13 lead. They continued to dominate in the second quarter, ending it with a score of 36-29 in their favor. Nepal registered an empathic victory of 65-26 over Bhutan in the first match of the day to lead the competition's points table. After two consecutive victories, Nepal has had an opportunity to clinch the title for which Nepal needed Sri Lanka to secure a narrow margin victory over Maldives.However, Sri Lanka trashed Maldives with a huge margin of 72-59 to defend the title of SABA. By a Staff Reporter Nepal defeated reigning champions Sri Lanka by 55-49 to register the first win in an ongoing SABA Women's Basketball Championship on Tuesday evening. Nepal took a comfortable lead of 21-32 in the first two quarters. Sri Lanka gave their level best to come back in the last two quarters. However, Nepal managed to defend the game and pressed well in the attacking zones. Nepal lost their first match of the championship by 51-47 to Maldives and Sri Lanka beat Bhutan 98-33 in their first outing. 4 South Asian countries are competing in the round-robin league tournament. Nepal will now take on Sri Lanka in its second outing on 27th September and compete against Bhutan in the last round-robin match on 28th September.

By a Staff Reporter Nepal began the SABA Women's Championship campaign facing a defeat against home side Maldives. In a match played on Sunday evening, Nepal lost by 51-47 to Maldives. After trailing in the first two quarters, Nepal took the lead in the third quarter and fell behind again in the last quarter. At the end of the first quarter, Maldives shut Nepal with scores 14-16. Nepal got trailed by 10-9 in the second quarter. Nepal took a 12-9 lead in the third quarter. At the end of 3rd quarter, Nepal had some light with a score reading of 36-34.
