Nepal began the SABA Women’s Championship campaign facing a defeat against home side Maldives. In a match played on Sunday evening, Nepal lost by 51-47 to Maldives.
After trailing in the first two quarters, Nepal took the lead in the third quarter and fell behind again in the last quarter. At the end of the first quarter, Maldives shut Nepal with scores 14-16. Nepal got trailed by 10-9 in the second quarter. Nepal took a 12-9 lead in the third quarter.
At the end of 3rd quarter, Nepal had some light with a score reading of 36-34. However, Nepal managed to lose the last quarter by 11-17 and suffered a defeat of 47-51.
4 South Asian countries are competing in the round-robin league tournament. Nepal will now take on Sri Lanka in its second outing on 27th September and compete against Bhutan in the last round-robin match on 28th September.
