Reigning champions Sri Lanka beat Maldives in the SABA Women’s Championship on Saturday to defend their title.
Nepal registered an empathic victory of 65-26 over Bhutan in the first match of the day to lead the competition’s points table. After two consecutive victories, Nepal has had an opportunity to clinch the title for which Nepal needed Sri Lanka to secure a narrow margin victory over Maldives.
However, Sri Lanka trashed Maldives with a huge margin of 72-59 to defend the title of SABA. Maldives will take on Bhutan tonight. Sri Lanka sidelined Nepal to clinch the title of the first edition of SABA in 2016 in Nepal.
Sri Lanka defeating Maldives means Nepal is limited to the runners-up in the championship for the second time. Nepal ended second in the first edition as well.
