Subash and Kashmira victorious in Nepal Tourism Amateur Golf Championship

Kathmandu – Top amateur Subash Tamang and Kashmira Shah were named victorious in Nepal Tourism Amateur Golf Championship 2022 under the 54-hole men and women category. 

Subash carded a winning total of 10-under 208 at Gokarna Golf Club on Thursday. He registered a 13-stroke victory over runner-up Tashi Tshering in the 54 Hole Men’s category.

Similarly, with 3-over 219 Tashi managed to secure second. Wanchen Dhondup finished third with a five-over 221 and an even-par 72. Qatar’s Selah Ali Luckabi finished fourth with eight-over 224.

On the women’s side, Kashmira Shah clinched the title with a total score of 24-over 240. Sushma Sigdel, who scored 45-over 261 became the runner-up. Sonia Akhtar finished third with a total of 47-over 263.

Norbu Tshering Sherpa was victorious in the 18-hole stable ford match with 39 points. Dhundul Namgyal was named second with 35 points. Moreover, on the women’s side, Aaistin Tandon became the winner whereas Ashriya Banu got second. On the senior side, Suresh Baniya became first and MB Raut came second. Abhimanyu Karki won in Junior. Saleh Ali Lakabi and Dr. Mukesh Joshi won the title of Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin respectively.

A total of 34 golfers participated in the 54-hole event which is also a world amateur-ranking golf tournament. Gokarna Forest Resort, KELME, Carlsberg, Hotel Royal Singhi, and IMS supported the tournament organized by Nepal Golf Association (NGA) in collaboration with Nepal Tourism Board and National Sports Council (NSC). 

The winners were awarded by Minister of Youth and Sports Maheshwar Jung Gahatraj, Ambassador of Qatar to Nepal His Excellency Yusuf bin Mohammed Al-Hail, President of NGA Tasi Ghale, Vice President Tilak Rai, and President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire among others.
