The 15-member squad including 12 hoopsters departed towards Maldives on Friday to compete in SABA Women’s Championship 2022.
4 South Asian countries will participate in the round-robin league tournament that kicks off on 25th September. Nepal will face the home side Maldives in the opener. Nepal will take on Sri Lanka in its second outing on 27th September and compete against Bhutan in the last round-robin match on 28th September.
SABA Women’s Championship was first organized in 2016 at Kathmandu where Sri Lanka left the home side Nepal behind to be crowned champions. The championship got halted for the time being after the completion of the first edition.
Bangladesh, who concluded the championship beneath other participating teams, stepped down to compete in the second edition.
Bikash Shahi is the coach whereas the responsibility of the team manager is given to Niranjan Satyal. Sadina Shrestha will lead the team.
