SABA Women’s Championship: Nepal defeats reigning champions

Nepal defeated reigning champions Sri Lanka by 55-49 to register the first win in an ongoing SABA Women’s Basketball Championship on Tuesday evening.

Nepal took a comfortable lead of 21-32 in the first two quarters. Sri Lanka gave their level best to come back in the last two quarters. However, Nepal managed to defend the game and pressed well in the attacking zones.

Nepal lost their first match of the championship by 51-47 to Maldives and Sri Lanka beat Bhutan 98-33 in their first outing.

4 South Asian countries are competing in the round-robin league tournament. Nepal will now take on Sri Lanka in its second outing on 27th September and compete against Bhutan in the last round-robin match on 28th September.
