Army’s Jayrani sets national record in 400m hurdles

By a Staff Reporter Pokhara - Jayarani Tharu of Tribhuvan Army Club clinches gold medal in 400-meter hurdles setting a new national record at Pokhara Rangashala. Jayarani broke her own record to set a new national record by completing the distance in 1 minute 04:13 seconds (hand timing). She kept a national record of 1 minute 07.2 seconds in Kathmandu in June. Likewise, APF's Bhagarathi Kumari Tharu won the silver clocking 1 minute 06.06 seconds and APF's Kalpana Shrestha bagged the bronze with 1 minute 06.51 seconds.

Deepak bags gold breaking Gopichandara’s record

By a Staff Reporter Pokhara - Departmental side Tribhuvan Amry Club's runner Deepak Adhikari bags gold in Men's 10,000-meter race belonging to the 9th National Games. Deepak recorded a new national record breaking the previous record kept by APF runner Gopi Chandra Parki in the competition held on Sunday at Pokhara Stadium. He completed the prescribed distance in 30 minutes and 10.30 seconds. Gopi had previously set a record in 2014 at Inchon Asiad in China by crossing the distance in 30 minutes 30.99 seconds. Gopichandra of APF managed to win the silver by covering the distance in 30 minutes 38.32 seconds. Army's Rajendra Rai won bronze by covering the distance in 30 minutes 49.50 seconds.

The match got heated up before kickoff due to which the match began one and a half hours later than the scheduled time. Syangja - Tribhuvan Army Football Club(TAFC) and Nepal Police Club (NPC) register a comfortable victory on the first day of the Women's Football Tournament belonging to the 9th National Games. Army trashed Madesh Province 6-0 at Malebagar Sports Ground in Syangja. Indira Rai scored a brace whereas Chandra Bhandari, Kusum Khatiwada, Amisha Karki, and Hima Chaudhary scored apiece for TAFC. By A Staff Reporter Title contenders Nepal Police Club and Tribhuwan Army Football Club have been pitted in same group in the Men's Football of 9th National Games. The matches of men's football will begin from 13th October in Pokhara Stadium and Gosteghat Football ground. Army and Police have been grouped with Lumbini Province in Group C. 11 participating teams have been divided into 4 groups. Winners from each group will book a place in the semi finals. Group A consists of NRNA, Province 1 and hosts Gandaki. Group B will see Bagmati, Madhesh and Nepal APF playing against each other. Madesh Province vs Gandaki Province In a first match of the day, Madesh Province beat Gandaki Province by 40 runs.
