Madesh and Bagmati off to a winning start

Madesh Province and Bagmati Province mark a winning start to the Women’s Cricket Tournament under the 9th National Games.

Madesh Province vs Gandaki Province

In a first match of the day, Madesh Province beat Gandaki Province by 40 runs. Gandaki failed to chase a modest target of 78 runs as Gandaki were all out for 37 runs in 19 overs.

Shila Chhetri scored the highest of 10 runs in 22 balls for Gandaki. No other batter could score runs in double figures. Madhesh Pradesh’s Anuradha Chaudhary took 4 wickets giving away 8 runs in 4 overs. Captain Kabita Gautam took 2 wickets in 4 overs with 1 maiden. Shanti Chaudhary took 2 wickets in 4 overs and Santoshi Chaudhary took one wicket.

Madesh Province collected 77 runs losing 8 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Lower order Saraswati Kumari scored 15 runs off 27 balls for Madhesh. Sana Prabin and Alisha Yadav scored 14 runs each. Others performance failed to meet the expectation.

Bagmati Province vs Far Western Province

In a second match of the day, Bagmati province defeated Far Western Province by 8 wickets. Bagmati chased a winning target of 72 runs in 13.1 overs.

Bagmati’s opener Kanchan Shrestha scored the highest 24 runs in 44 balls with 1 boundary. Asmita Kharel was dismissed for 9 runs off 26 balls. While Suman Khatiwada was sent off the crease for 11 runs off 6 balls with 2 fours, Aarti Bidari remained unbeaten on 3 runs.

Far Western, who lost the toss and batted first were all out for 71 runs in 18.2 overs. Far Western’s lower order Anu Kadayat scored 22 runs off 23 balls with 2 fours. Opener Rubi Poddar went back to the dugout collecting 12 runs. Captain Bindu Rawal and Dolly Bhatt got out for 5 and 2 runs respectively.

Sonu Pakhrin of Bagmati took 5 wickets spending 13 runs in 4 overs. Spinner Khushi Dangol took 2 wickets for 11 runs in 3.2 overs. Krisma Gurung and Asmita Kharel took one wicket each.
