NPC victorious in debut match

Nepal Police Club (NPC) beat Karnali Province by 63 runs through the Duckworth Lewis method to register the first victory in the Women’s Cricket Tournament belonging to the 9th National Games. NPC Women’s team made its debut in domestic cricket through this match.

NPC, who won the toss at Pokhara Stadium chose to bat first and scored 110 runs losing 6 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. NPC’s Samjhana Khadka scored the highest of 25 runs off 21 balls with 2 fours.

Opener Kajal Shrestha and Kabita Kunwar were out at 16 runs each. Apsari Begam, Rewati Dhami, Kabijata Joshi, and captain Rubina Chhetri added 4,14,8 and 9 runs respectively to the total tally. Karnali’s Anju Gurung took three wickets spending 24 runs in 4 overs. Bina Thapa and Anjali Chhetri took one wicket each.

Pursuing the winning target of 111 runs, Karnali lost 7 wickets in 10.2 overs and scored 17 runs. Later, the match got stopped due to rain. Karnali’s Diksha Puri remained unbeaten at 7 runs. NPC’s Sabnam Rai, Sangita Rai, Ishwari Bista, Kavita Joshi, and Hiranmai Rai took one wicket each.

NPC’s Samjhana Khakda was adjudged as the player of the match. In the second match of the day, Province 1 and Lumbini Province shared the spoils as the match failed to start due to rain.
