Ultra runner Sunmaya Budha, who has been competing with The North Face Adventure Team in International Ultra managed to top Asia’s trail running rankings as per the rankings published by the Trail Running Association.
China’s Fujao Xiang is in second place and Japan’s Yoshizumi is in third place. Jumla’s Sunmaya became runners-up in the 100 km category of Ultra Race Mont Blanc (UTMB) held in France in August. She completed the distance in 11 hours 44 minutes 55 seconds and secured the second position.
Likewise, Sunmaya won Asia’s biggest ultra trail running title in Thailand the previous year. Following the victory, she was selected for the Ultra Race Mont Blanc, which was recognized as the world championship in France. Sunmaya completed the 110 km ultra race in Thailand in 14 hours 54 minutes 01 seconds.
In the same category, another ultra runner Mira Rai was second. In the trail where more than 2,000 people participated, Sunmaya won the women’s category and got third place overall. Sunmaya started her formal training in running from Karnali Sports, which was established and trained by Olympian Hari Rokaya in Khalanga, Jumla.
