By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Nepal APF Club have registered second consecutive win in the ongoing Lalitpur Mayor Women’s T20 Championship on Wednesday. The departmental team defeated Sudur Paschim by 6 wickets in their second match. APF, who were chasing a modest target of 90 runs, met the target in 16.5 overs losing 4 wickets. Roma Thapa contributed 23 runs off 29 balls for APF. Mamta Chaudhary was unbeaten on 14 runs off 19 balls. Opener Jyoti Pande contributed 11 runs, while Sita Ranamagar scored four, Indu Berma 10 and Sarita Magar 9 runs. Chasing a target of 95 runs for victory, Lalitpur XI managed to score 92 runs in 20 overs losing 9 wickets. Lalitpur were in need of 7 runs from the last six balls. Sandeep Lamichhane makes giant stride in ICC ranking

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Nepal’s national cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane and opener Kushal Bhurtel have leapfrogged in the ICC T20I rankings. Kushal Bhurtel jumped from 65th position to 39th. Dipendra Singh Airee climbed to 50th spot from 52nd. Both the players made significant improvement in batting ranking. Meanwhile, captain Lamichhane improved his bowling ranking from 63rd position to 43rd. Lamichhane has moved ahead of renowned players such as South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Australia’s fast bowler Pat Cummins. Cumins is ranked 47th while Rabada is 48th. By a Staff Reporter Muscat - Nepal’s hopes of qualifying for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup have come to an end with a 68-run defeat to the UAE during the semifinal match of the ICC T20 Global Qualifiers on Tuesday. The UAE defeated Nepal to secure a place in the T20 World Cup to be held in October/November in Australia later this year. This is the second time the UAE have qualified for the T20 World Cup. This is the first time the UAE will be playing in the T20 World Cup after 2014. Nepal, who were chasing a target of 176 runs for victory, were all out in 18.4 overs with just 107 runs on board. Lamichhane bagged the honours for his superb bowling that helped Nepal defeat Canada in their last group-stage match of the ICC T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers on Monday. Canada, who opted to bat first at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground-1, were all out for 80 runs in 15 overs. On Monday, Nepal defeated Canada by 8 wickets in the third and final match of the league round to move just one step away from the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia later this year. Cricket Association of Nepal informed that the tri-series will be held towards the end of March. CAN’s acting secretary Prashant Bikram Malla confirmed that the tri-series will be held at the end of March on TU ground. He added that further details about the series will be made punlic within a few days.
