Nepal to organize T20I tri-series in late March

Kathmandu – Nepal is all set to host a T20I tri-series against Malaysia and Papua New Guinea at its home turf on TU cricket ground. Cricket Association of Nepal informed that the tri-series will be held towards the end of March.

CAN’s acting secretary Prashant Bikram Malla confirmed that the tri-series will be held at the end of March on TU ground. He added that further details about the series will be made punlic within a few days. Before hosting the event, Nepal is scheduled to participate in an ODI tri-series involving Papua New Guinea and the UAE in mid-March in the UAE. However, the official date of the UAE visit has not yet been fixed. Although it is certain that Nepal will play the tri-series in the  UAE, the date of the event has not been fixed. Nepal will most likely organize the tri-series after the UAE trip.

This will be the second T20I tri-series CAN will be organizing on home ground. Prior to this, CAN had organized a T20I tri-series against the Netherlands and Malaysia last year.

The national cricket team of Nepal is currently in Oman for the ICC T20 Global Qualifiers. Nepal lead Group B with two wins from two matches. If Nepal beat Canada on Monday, they will reach the semifinals without losing any match. Team Nepal will reach the semifinals even if it loses the match by a narrow margin. The top two teams of the 8-team qualifiers will make it to the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in Australia in Octover/November.
