Kathmandu – Onguna Junior scored a last-gasp goal as Jawlakhel Youth Club registered a vital win over Himalayan Sherpa Club in their Qatar Airways Martyrs Memorial A Division League match on Sunday.
The 2-1 win over Himalayan Sherpa has almost removed relegation threat faced by JYC. The Lalitpur-based club are now 10th in the league with 13 points with their third victory. Nepal Police Club, who have 10 points, have dropped to the 11th position.
Police, Friends Club and Brigade Boys Club are now under relegation threat. Friends are 12th in the league with 10 points while BBC have seven points.
Chyasal, who have scored just six points, have already been relegated from the top-tier competition on Saturday. Police and BBC have two matches left while JYC and Friends have only one match left to play.
During Sunday’s match, JYC had taken an early lead through a goal from Rup Bahadur Lama in the 15th minute. A corner kick taken by Lama entered straight into the net.
Amrit Shrestha scored an equalizer in the 71st minute for Himalayan Sherpa. He scored a bicycle kick to make the honours even. However, JYC had the last laugh as Junior scored the winning goal in the 88th minute to ensure they take away all three points.
