Muscat – Nepali national cricket team’s skipper Sandeep Lamichhane has been adjudged player of the match in T20I for the first time. Lamichhane bagged the honours for his superb bowling that helped Nepal defeat Canada in their last group-stage match of the ICC T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers on Monday.

Canada, who opted to bat first at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground-1, were all out for 80 runs in 15 overs. Lamichhane took three wickets in four overs giving away 12 runs as Nepal dismissed Canada cheaply.

Although Lamichhane has grabbed 55 wickets in 31 T20I matches, he was never before adjudged the man of the match in the shortest format of cricket. Lamichhane is the third fastest player to reach the 50-wicket milestone in 29 matches. But the man of the match honours had evaded him until the match against Canada in which he played a crucial role.

Nepal met the target of 81 runs in  14.1 overs losing two wickets.
