Court orders to send Sandeep behind the bars

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - The District Court of Kathmandu has ordered to send the suspended captain of the Nepal National Cricket Team Sandeep Lamichhane, who is accused of raping a minor, behind the bars until the final hearing of the case. A bench of Judge Madhav Prasad Ghimire ordered to send Sandeep behind the bars on Friday after the completion of the debate from both sides. The debate ended after the government attorney Krishna Bhandari completed his counterargument today. While 8 lawyers of Sandeep debated on Thursday, 7 lawyers argued on behalf of the minor victim on Wednesday. Nepalgunj Marathon granted with AIMS Membership

By a Staff Reporter Nepalgunj Marathon has been granted with the membership of the highest body of world marathons, the Association of International Marathon and Distance Race (AIMS). The eighth edition of the Nepalgunj Marathon, scheduled to be held on 10th December, received AIMS certification for the 42.195 KM marathon, 21.097 KM half marathon, 10 KM, and 5 KM races in September. AIMS granted the Nepalgunj Marathon membership as it completed all the required qualifications. Nepalgunj Marathon received the certificate of Membership signed off by AIMS president Paco Borao last week. The Nepalgunj Marathon consists of ten different categories. Court permits Police to keep Sandeep in custody for two more days

Kathmandu - The District Court of Kathmandu permitted Nepal Police to keep the suspended captain of the Nepal National Cricket Team Sandeep Lamichhane in custody for two more days for further investigation. The police took Sandeep to court on Sunday for an extension of the investigation time. Sandeep will be presented in the court for debate after the completion of the Tihar Holiday. The court will then decide whether to release him on a simple date, bail, or send him to pre-trial detention. Athlete passes away after falling from paragliding

By a Staff Reporter Pokhara - An athlete participating in the men's cross country event of paragliding under the 9th National Games has passed away. Tribhuvan Army Club's (TAC) Nisim Thapa lost his life as he suddenly fell down from paragliding from a height of 100 meters while flying in the sky during the competition in Pokhara Metropolitan City 18 Sarangkot on Sunday. According to District Police Office Kaski, 26-year-old army player Nisim had lost his life when he fell on the ground. He was playing for TAC under contract. Kaski Police Spokesperson Sundar Tiwari informed that Nisim was sent to Metro City Hospital for treatment. Later, he was declared dead by the doctor.

Police receive a deadline of 7 days to investigate Sandeep Lamichhane’s case

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - The Kathmandu District Court has given seven days deadline to the police to further investigate Sandeep Lamichhane, who was arrested on the charge of raping a minor girl. According to Sandeep's advocate Saroj Krishna Ghimire, the court has given a deadline of 7 days to Nepal Police effective from October 6. Sandeep, who returned back to Nepal on October 6 with the motive of submitting himself to the Police, got arrested at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
