Bhandari heading towards India tomorrow

By a Staff Reporter Nepal National Women's Football Team and Nepal APF Football Club striker Sabitra Bhandari aka Samba is set to head towards India on Saturday to join Gokulam Kerela FC. Samba and Gokulam Kerela FC reached an agreement last month for a time period of one year. Samba was the prime player of the team when Gokulam Kerela FC crowned the title of the Indian Women's League (IWL) a couple of years ago. With the top-notch performance from Samba, Gokulam bagged the trophy remaining undefeated.     Samba scored goals in all the league matches. She was named the top scorer of the league with 16 goals. By a Staff Reporter The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has announced the names of 35 players who made it to the second round of selection for the SAFF Women's Championship to be held in Nepal next month. Nepali Women's National Team coach Kumar Thapa has reduced the preliminary squad to 35 members. Captain Renuka Nagarkote has been kept out due to the injury. Anjila Subba, Sabitra Bhandari, Anita Basnet and Amrita Jaishi are amongst the senior players available in the team at the moment. The next captain of the team is likely to be appointed among them. Nepal must face playoffs to compete in World Cup and Asian Cup qualifiers

By a Staff Reporter Nepal has to compete from the first stage of Asian Cup qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) released the new qualifiers format for the World Cup 2026 and Asian Cup 2027 on Monday. As per the new format, Nepal have to start its campaign through the playoffs. The World Cup 2026 will jointly be held in America, Canada and Mexico in which 48 teams will vie to be crowned champions of the prestigious title. 8 teams from Asia will qualify for the World Cup. By a Staff Reporter South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) has announced the fixtures of the Women's SAFF Championship to be held in Nepal next month on Sunday. The sixth edition of SAFF Championship will begin from September 6 to 19, 2022 at Dashrath Stadium in Tripureshwor. Nepal, who were drawn in group A along with Bhutan and Sri Lanka will face Bhutan in the opening match of the championship on 6th September at 5:30 PM NST as per the fixture published by SAFF. Sri Lanka and Bhutan are in Group B with the hosts of sixth edition, Nepal. Nepal has won all the matches played against Sri Lanka and Bhutan in the SAFF Championship so far.
