The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has announced the names of 35 players who made it to the second round of selection for the SAFF Women’s Championship to be held in Nepal next month.
Nepali Women’s National Team coach Kumar Thapa has reduced the preliminary squad to 35 members. Captain Renuka Nagarkote has been kept out due to the injury. Anjila Subba, Sabitra Bhandari, Anita Basnet and Amrita Jaishi are amongst the senior players available in the team at the moment. The next captain of the team is likely to be appointed among them.
The sixth edition of SAFF Championship will begin from September 6 to 19, 2022 at Dashrath Stadium in Tripureshwor. Nepal, who were drawn in group A along with Bhutan and Sri Lanka will face Bhutan in the opening match of the championship on 6th September at 5:30 PM NST as per the fixture published by SAFF. Moreover, Nepal will play its second and final group stage match against Sri Lanka on 12th September.
Two matches of Group B will take place on the second day. On the third day, Sri Lanka and Bhutan from Group A will compete. Top two teams from both the groups will qualify to the semi finals. Both the semi finals matches will be played on 16th September. Furthermore, the winners of the semi final matches will vie for the trophy on 19th September.
