Vice President of Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) Nirose Maskey has announced her candidacy for the post of President amidst a press conference in Kathmandu on Tuesday. The NVA election will be held on September 7, 2022.

She is the first one to announce the official candidacy for the election. She had already announced her candidacy a couple of years ago. The last election of NVA took place on May 14, 2016. The meeting that was held two weeks prior fixed the date of the election. Maskey, who entered the association as a central member, had also been treasurer of the association.
She has also expressed her five commitments for the development of volleyball while announcing her candidacy that includes training, competition, infrastructure, promotion and administrative structure.

She has also put forward her plan regarding resource management such as partnership with government agencies, mobilization of the private sector, membership and effective distribution system, strategic partners, NRNA and volleyball lovers scattered around the world, involvement and mobilization of professional associations and communities.
Maskey announced that she claimed for the leadership of NVA based on selflessness and activity, role and contribution in the development and expansion of volleyball for a decade and a half. “I believe that it is possible to take the national game of volleyball to greater heights through collective efforts of all.” Maskey stated.

During the announcement of the candidacy, Maskey confidentially mentioned that she feels like there will be no rival in the election. “I have not felt like there are any rivals till now. Even if I only announced my candidacy, I will try to bring everyone under the same umbrella. I am confident that I will get all 133 votes,” Maskey stated confidently. Former presidents Ganga Bahadur Thapa and Dan Bahadur Tamang, Member Secretary of Province No. 1 Sports Council Board Hansraj Wagle were present at the event.
