Kathmandu – Nepal Police Club (NPC) table tennis players duo Nabita Shrestha and Binesh Khaniya won the title of the 5th Samjhana Cup International Table Tennis Championship.
Binesh outplayed Indian player Santosh Kumar Ramesh in a set of 7-11, 11-5, 11-9, 10-12, and 11-3 to be named champion in the men’s event.
Likewise, the nine times national champion Nabita thrashed Rabina Maharjan of Kantipur Valley Ping Pong Club in a straight set to be crowned champion in the women’s event. Rabina posted 2,3 and 5 over 11 points.
Moreover, India’s Global Table Tennis Academy won the men’s team event, and Nepal Police Club became victorious in the women’s team event. Likewise, Chandan Shahi bagged gold in Veteran Men’s Single 40+, and Kapur Sharma Paudel came first in veterans 55+. Furthermore, Indira Paudel Parajuli of Gyanbhairav Dillibajar Table Tennis Club won in veteran women’s single 40+.
The 5th Samjhana Cup International Table Tennis Championship was organized by Lalitpur Table Tennis Association under the sponsorship of Samjhana Laboratory Clinic Pvt. Ltd.
The top three finishers in men’s/women’s singles and teams events pursed cash prizes of 50,000, 25,000, and 10,000 respectively. The first place in veterans received 20,000, the second place received 10,000 and the third place received 5,000 cash prizes.
The winners were awarded by National Sports Council (NSC) Member-Secretary Tankalal Ghising, President of All Nepal Table Tennis Association Chaturanandaraj Vaidya, Chief Executive Officer of Samjhana Lab Rajana Joshi, President of the organizing club Urdeep Joshi and others.
