Kathmandu – Hongwanji New Diamond Youth Academy and Nepal APF Club marked the winning start to the 6th KNP Nerolac National Women’s Volleyball Championship.
In an opening match of the championship, New Diamond Youth Academy trounced Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) in a straight set of 3-0. Army, who displayed a strong performance in the first set, ended up losing 25-20.
Army failed to give a tough fight in the second and third sets as New Diamond registered a comfortable victory of 25-14, and 25-10 respectively. In New Diamond’s victory over TAC, Rima Kunwar was named the Player of The Match. She received NRs. 10,000 and a trophy.
In a day’s second match, APF thrashed Nepal Police Club (NPC) in a straight set of 3-0. The close contest battle resulted in APF’s favor. With Player of The Match Saraswati Chaudhary dominating the play, APF defeated NPC by 25-20, 25-21, and 25-21 in a row.
Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), Nepal Armed Police Force Club (APF), Nepal Police Club (NPC), and Hongwanji New Diamond Youth Club are competing in the round-robin-styled championship organized by Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation.
After the completion of the round-robin, the top two teams will fight for the title, and the bottom two teams will play for third place.
The winners of the championship will be rewarded with NRs. 3 Lakhs while the runners-up will purse NRs. 1.5 Lakhs. The team finishing third will receive NRs. 75 thousand and the Most Valuable Player of the tournament will be felicitated with NRs. 50 thousand.
