Samba’s Side Fail To Reach Athena Cup Final

By a staff reporter Sabitra ‘Samba’ Bhandari and her side Hapoel Ra’anana have been knocked out of the Athena Cup in Israel. Ra’anana lost 3-0 to Kiryat Gat on Thursday night in the semifinals and bowed out of the tournament.  Ra’anana made it to the final four despite going through a 6-0 loss in the final group match. They showed an improved performance against the defending champions. Samba had a few chances that fell to her feet but the opposition goalkeeper kept her from finding the net. Samba had netted a goal and gave an assist in her debut for her new side in Israel. By a staff reporter Kathmandu - Sabitra Bhandari’s side Hapoel Ra’anana have made it into the semifinals of the Athena Cup in Israel despite experiencing a setback in the final group match.  Hapoel suffered a thumping 6-0 loss against Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem FC in the third and final group match. Despite the loss, Ra’anana finished as the runners-up in their group and have reached the final four. Ra’anana were declared victorious in the first group match after their opposition didn’t show up for the match. In the second match, Ra’anana defeated Hadera 2-0. Samba scored one and assisted another in that win.
