Kathmandu – Sabitra Bhandari’s side Hapoel Ra’anana have made it into the semifinals of the Athena Cup in Israel despite experiencing a setback in the final group match.
Hapoel suffered a thumping 6-0 loss against Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem FC in the third and final group match. Despite the loss, Ra’anana finished as the runners-up in their group and have reached the final four.
Ra’anana were declared victorious in the first group match after their opposition didn’t show up for the match. In the second match, Ra’anana defeated Hadera 2-0. Samba scored one and assisted another in that win.
Defending champions FC Kiryat Gat, who are featuring in this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying round, will be Ra’anana’s opponents in the semifinals.
Ra’anana will contest their semifinal match on Thursday.
