Amateur Wangchen takes lead in Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Amateur Wangchen Dhondup took the lead on Monday after the opening round of the Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship – the season ending event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2021-22.  Wangchen carded seven-under 65 to take three-strokes lead over Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Rabi Khadka and Niraj Tamang who all carded four-under 68 at the Gokarna Golf Club.   Sukra Bahadur Rai, amateurs Sadbhav Acharya and Mahendra Phagami are at three-under 69. Amateur Subash wins Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Amateur Subash Tamang won the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship at the par-72 Gokarna Golf Club on Thursday.  Subash had a comfortable seven-stroke victory over pro Sukra Bahadur Rai and Bhuwan Nagarkoti to become the first amateur golfer to win three major titles. He had also won the Surya Nepal Challenge in 2019 and Surya Nepal Western Open in April.  Subash who was two strokes ahead of Bhuwan going into the final round, carded four-under 68 to post the tournament total of 19-under 269. By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Subash Tamang took a two-stroke lead over Bhuwan Nagarkoti after the third round of the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship, the seventh event of Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2021-22. Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship to tee off on Monday

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship, the seventh event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2021-22, will tee off on Monday at Gokarna Golf Club. According to the organisers, the four-day event will be played over 72 holes from May 9 and conclude on May 12. Cut will be applied after completion of 36 holes, reads a statement issued by Deepak Acharya, general secretary of Professional Golfers Association of Nepal. Top 21 pros and ties will make their journey to the final 36 holes along with top six amateurs and those who survive the pro cut, the statement added.  According to Acharya, 32 professional golfers will test their skills for a total prize money of Rs 775,000. April 22: Bhuwan Nagarkoti clinched the title of the Surya Nepal Challenge, the sixth event under Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2021-22, at the par-68 Royal Nepal Golf Club on Friday.  Nepal No 1 pro Bhuwan carded two-under 66 in the final round to post the winning total of 13-under 259. He registered a four-stroke victory over Jayram Shrestha to claim the second title of the season and 10th overall. Surya Nepal Challenge to tee off on Tuesday

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - The Surya Nepal Challenge Golf Championship under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2021-22 is all set to tee off on Tuesday. The championship being organised by Nepal Professional Golf Association will be held at the Royal Nepal Golf Club from April 19 to 22. Altogether 56 golfers including seven Nepalis residing in the  UK will be competing in the event, according to the organisers. Among them, 36 are professional golfers and 20 are amateur.
