Kathmandu – Sanjay Lama and Bhuwan Kumar Rokka are tied for the lead after the second round of the Surya Nepal Challenge, the sixth event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2021-22, at the par-68 Royal Nepal Golf Club on Wednesday.

Sanjay carded six-under 62 whereas Bhuwan scored second successive four-under 68 for a total score of eight-under 128. Surya Prasad Sharma is one shot behind the leaders after he carded four-under 68 on the second day for a total score of seven-under 129. Deepak Magar is one-stroke further at six-under 130 after he carded two-under 66.
Bhuwan Nagarkoti and overnight leader Rabi Khadka are at five-under 131. Bhuwan carded two-under 66 and Rabi played one-over 69.
Dinesh Prajapati, Niraj Tamang, and Amateur Subash Tamang are at three-under 133. Dinesh scored four-under 64 whereas Niraj and Subash carded one-under 67.
Jayaram Shrestha and Dhana Bahadur Thapa are at one-under 135. Jayaram played a round of three-under 65 and Dhana scored two-under 66.

Sanjay on his bogey-free round carded birdies on first and fourth holes for a two-under 32 on the front nine. He carded four-under 30 on the second half with help of birdies on 12th, 13th, 16th and 18th holes.
Bhuwan started with birdies on first two-holes then added birdies on fourth and fifth holes then dropped shots on sixth and seventh holes before adding a birdie on the eight hole for three-under 33. On the back nine, he carded birdies on 14th and 18th holes against a bogey on the 11th hole for one-under 33.
On the amateur front, Suresh Tamang is distant second at six-over 142 after he carded one-over 69. Shaswat Pradhan is third at nine-over 145 after carding three-over 71.
Twenty two professionals made the cut at nine-over 145. Top six amateurs also will play the final 36 holes.
A total of 60 golfers – 38 pros and 22 amateurs – are taking part in the tournament organised by Professional Golfers Association Nepal under the sponsorship of Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd.
The event carries a total purse of Rs 545,000 and the winner will bag a cheque of Rs 100,000, while the runner-up will take home Rs 65,000 and the third position holder will earn Rs 46,000. Others in the top 21 will also receive their share of cash prizes.
