Subash takes lead going into the final round

Kathmandu – Subash Tamang took a two-stroke lead over Bhuwan Nagarkoti after the third round of the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship, the seventh event of Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2021-22.

Subash carded three-under 69 on Wednesday for a total score of 15-under 201 at the Gokarna Golf Club. Bhuwan Nagarkoti is at 13-under 203 after he carded one-under 71.

Sukra Bahadur Rai is third after he scored one-under 71 for a total of eight-under 208. Rabi Khadka played a round of even-par 72 and is fourth with a total score of six-under 210. Amateur Sadbhav Acharya is fifth with a score of four-under 212 after he carded a round of three-over 75.

Dinesh Prajapati is sixth with a total score of two-under 214 as he scored one-over 73 followed by Niraj Tamang, Jayaram Shrestha, Dhana Bahadur Thapa and Ramesh Adhikari who are at even-par 216.

Leader Subash Tamang carded one-under 35 on the front nine with birdies on third and sixth holes against a bogey on the second hole. On the back nine, he made birdies on the 10th, 11th, 12th, 15th and 16th holes but faced a double-bogey on the 14th and bogey on the last hole for a two-under 34. 

Bhuwan Nagarkoti played one-under 35 on the front nine with birdies on third and seventh holes against a bogey on the eighth hole. On the back nine, he sank birdies on 11th and 12th holes but scored a double-bogey on the 16 hole for even-par 36.  

A total of 32 professional golfers and 12 amateurs are taking part in the tournament. The event carries a total cash prize of Rs 775,000. Winner of the event will be richer by Rs 135,000, the runner-up will earn Rs 88,000 and the third-position holder will get Rs 65,000. Others in the top 21 places will also earn prize money.
