Chasing a mammoth total of 204 runs for victory, PNG were all out in 19.4 overs with 166 runs on board. Karan KC has become the first Nepali player to score a hat-trick in T20I. Chasing a mammoth target of 293 runs for victory, Nepal managed 206 runs in 39.5 overs losing 5 wickets. Poudel scored 7 boundaries and two sixes in his innings. He has become the second player of Nepal score an ODI century after Paras Khadka, who had scored 115 runs against the UAE in 2019. Nepal had achieved the ODI status in 2018 when Tamata was the chief coach of the national cricket team. Under his guidance, Nepal finished eighth during the World Cup qualifiers held in Zimbabwe to achieve the ODI status. Nepal also reached the final of the ICC World Cricket League Division-2 in Namibia in the same year under his leadership.
