Kathmandu – The national women’s cricket team of Nepal has returned home on Monday after participating in the ACC Women’s T-20 Championship in Malaysia.

Nepal had reached the semifinals of the event and would have also made it to the final had the rain not played the spoilsport. Despite restricting the UAE to 81 runs in the semifinal match, Nepal were eliminated from the championship after the match on June 25 was called off due to rain. With this, Nepal’s hope of being selected for the Asia Cup has effectively ended.
Nepal did not get a chance for batting due to the rainfall and another semifinal match between the hosts Malaysia and Hong Kong. As there was no reserve day before the final scheduled for June 26, the UAE reached the final by the virtue of being the winners of Group A in accordance with the ICC rules.
Earlier, Nepal had defeated Bhutan, Kuwait and Bahrain in the group stage matches while it suffered defeat against Hong Kong.
