Kathmandu – Tribhuvan Army Football Club and Sankata Club settled for a 1-1 draw in an ongoing Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League 2023 at ANFA Complex on Sunday.
Army’s skipper Bharat Khawas put his team in front with a sublime goal in the 18th minute, after receiving a through ball from Nawayug Shrestha. This was Bharat’s first goal in the league. Sankata tried hard to level the scores, but Army’s solid defense kept them at bay.
However, the last minute of injury time changed the direction of the match. Army’s Youdha Shahi brought down Sankata’s forward Onguna Junior in an attempt to clear the ball, conceding a penalty. Sankata’s Lebanese forward Youssef Atriss then kept his cool and made no mistake from the spot, sending Army’s goalkeeper Bikesh Kuthu the wrong way and snatching a valuable point for his team.
The draw helped Sankata move up to the 10th position with 17 points, escaping the relegation zone, while Army remained in the 6th position with 21 points from 15 matches.
