Kathmandu – The Nepal National Women’s Volleyball team showcased a dominant performance, advancing to the semifinals of the highly anticipated CAVA Women’s Challenge Cup at NSC Covered Hall.
In a resounding victory, the hosts outplayed Bangladesh in a straight set of 3-0, securing a spot in the semifinals with one game to spare.
Nepal’s triumph began with an impressive display in the first set, as they comfortably defeated Bangladesh with a score of 25-10. Continuing their exceptional form, Nepal further asserted their dominance by claiming the second set with a convincing score of 25-8. Displaying remarkable consistency, Nepal wrapped up the match by triumphing in the third set with a resounding score of 25-9, ultimately confirming their well-deserved victory.
Prior to this match, Nepal had already defeated Kyrgyzstan in the inaugural match held on Monday, further bolstering their confidence.
Earlier in the first match of the day, India demonstrated their strength as they triumphed over Kyrgyzstan in a straight set, securing their place in the semifinals.
With a commanding performance, India emerged victorious with scores of 17-25, 8-25, and 8-25. This victory sets the stage for an exciting showdown between arch-rivals Nepal and India on Wednesday, with the match set to determine the winners of Group ‘A’.
In the Group ‘B’ match, Kazakhstan showcased their fighting spirit against Sri Lanka. The intense battle saw Kazakhstan emerge victorious by 3-1 after a series of tightly contested sets.
Kazakhstan claimed the first set with a score of 16-25 but faced significant resistance from Sri Lanka in the second set, eventually prevailing with a narrow margin of 26-28.
Sri Lanka fought back in the third set, securing a victory with a score of 25-18. However, Kazakhstan demonstrated their resilience and determination in the fourth set, emerging victorious with a hard-fought score of 27-29. This thrilling win marks Kazakhstan’s second consecutive triumph in the tournament.
