Nakheel Gurkhas FC, a Nepalese community-based club in Abu Dhabi, emerged victorious in the Hatemalo New Year Cup 2023 by defeating Himalayan Soldier FC with a score of 4-1 on Sunday.
Rajendra Gaire netted twice while Nir Kumar Rai and Laxman KC each scored one goal for the winning team.
The Nakheel Gurkhas team was comprised of Suraj Gurung, Nir Kumar Rai, Roshan Khadka, Bibek Basnet, and Rajendra Gaire, all of whom had previously played in Nepal’s top football league.
Nir Kumar Rai and Roshan Khadka were regular members of the Nepal Police Cup whereas Bibek Basnet and Rajendra Gaire had donned Tribhuvan Army Club’s color in Nepal’s top-flight league. Moreover, Suraj Gurung had featured Friends Club, and Sankata Club in the premier divison of Nepal. Due to the uncertainty of footballing activities, they had recently moved to the UAE in search of better opportunities.
As champions of the Hatemalo New Year Cup 2023, Nakheel Gurkhas received AED 4999 along with the trophy, medals, and certificates.
