Nepal qualifies for the World Cup

Ajman – Nepal National U19 Cricket team had qualified for U19 Cricket World Cup defeating hosts UAE by 7 runs in ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier at Eden Garden Oval in Ajman.

Invited to bat first, Nepal lost all its wickets at 48.5 overs with 191 runs on the scoreboard. Nepal, who had a poor start with the bat, regained momentum with Skipper Dev Khanal’s knock of 51 runs off 84 deliveries.

Earlier, the top order batters Deepak Bohara (0), Arjun Kumal (3), and Akash Tripathi (9) were dismissed early, collectively adding only 12 runs.

Other contributions came from Uttam Thapa Magar (36), Bishal Bikram KC (38), Milan Bobara (10), Dipesh Kandel (15), Subash Kandel (2), Hemant Dhami (13), and Aakash Chand (4).

In return, Nepal’s spinner Dipesh Kandel picked up a 5-wicket haul to restrict UAE to 184 helping Nepal qualify for the World Cup for the first time in eight years. In addition, Hemant Dhami and Subash Bhandari both took two wickets each, contributing to Nepal’s successful qualification for the World Cup.

With skipper Aayan Afzal Khan leaving the crease for a duck out, Ethan Carl D’souza top-scored for UAE contributing 50 runs off 66 balls. While openers Aryan Saxena and Aryansh Sharma collected 34 and 32 runs, Dhruv Parashar scored 17.

Furthermore, Ammar Badami 19, Maroof Merchant 12, Harsh Desai 7, and Harshit Seth contributed 4 runs. Harit Harish Shetty and Monish Gajesh departed following a golden duck.
