Milan beat Lazio to stay atop

After beating Lazio 3-2 on Wednesday, Theo Hernández’s stoppage-time winner ensured that Milan ended the year top of Serie A.

Having gotten off to a good start, taking the lead in the 10th minute. When a corner was whipped in from the left and Ante Rebic headed in at the far post. In the 28th minute, however, Lazio got back into the match. They were awarded a penalty of their own after Joaquín Correa was caught by Pierre Kalulu. Ciro Immobile’s effort was saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma, but Luis Alberto headed in the rebound.

The comeback was completed in the 59th minute. After a perfectly-lofted pass from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Immobile scoring with an angled drive. But in the final minutes, Milan restored their lead. Hernández headed into a corner at the near post to ignite wild celebration scenes.

In joyful celebration after his late winner, the Milan players piled on top of Hernández. Milan had let a two-goal lead slip and looked set to head into the winter break behind city rivals Internazionale. The Rossoneri, instead, go to a point above Inter in the festive season.
