Machhindra ropes in Chencho from Punjab FC

Kathmandu – Regaining Champions Machhindra Football Club roped in Bhutan National Football Team Skipper Chencho Gyeltshen from the I-League Champions Punjab FC.

The club on Monday penned down an agreement with Chencho amidst a press meet at the capital. As per the club, Chencho will stay at the club till the end of Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Divison League 2023. However, neither party disclose the signing amount.

Machhindra, who had a mediocre start to the league currently stands at the 11th position in the points table after the fifth round. Machhindra will now face the Himalayan Sherpa Club on Thursday at ANFA Complex where Chencho may make his debut in Nepal’s top-flight league.

With its experienced players Sujal Shrestha and Ranjit Dhimal migrating to Australia after the 5th round of the league, Machhindra brought in Chencho to add strength to their feeble squad.

Chencho expressed his excitement about playing in Nepal’s premier division, saying, “I am looking forward to playing for Machhindra FC. I am excited about the challenge and can’t wait to get started.”

Chencho is Bhutan’s all-time leading international goal-scorer, with a total of 11 goals in 39 appearances for his country.
