Kathmandu – Kathmandu Knights registered an empathic victory of 90 runs over Janakpur Royals.
Kathmandu Knight’s Inning
Invited to bat first in the day’s first match, Kathmandu Knights scored 180/6 in the allocated 20 overs. With opener Virandeep Singh getting dismissed for 9 runs, skipper Gyanendra Malla left the crease following the duck out for the third time in the tournament.
Sunam Gautam, who partnered with Virandeep in opening the inning contributed the highest of 62 runs to the winning side. Sunam smashed 4 fours and sixers in 47 deliveries to collect the total.
Breaking everyone’s expectations, Alex Blake found his way back to the dugout with 20 runs in the pocket off 12 deliveries. Moreover, Ryan Burl scored 61 not out off 40 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes to be the second-highest scorer for the Knights.
Azmatullah Omarzai (10), and Lokes Bam (7) were the other batsmen dismissed early.
Janakpur’s pacer Jitendra Mukhiya picked up the utmost 3 wickets in 4 overs spending 37 runs. In addition, Sharafuddin Ashraf, and Trevon Griffith took 1 wicket each.
Janakpur Royals’ Inning
Kathmandu Knights limited the Royals’ to 90 runs to defend the winning target of 181 runs. While Janakpur’s two West Indies batsmen Trevon Griffith and Chadwick Walton left the crease following a duck out, Opener Khadak Bohara returned to the pavilion with 10 runs. Jitendra Mukhiya is another batsman to get dismissed for a duck out.
With Sundeep Jora (2), Pawan Sarraf (4), Samiullah Shinwari (1), Mohammad Aadil Alam (9), returned to the pavilion with a single figure, Sharafuddin Ashraf (37), and Sompal Kami (21) contributed in double figures. Lalit Rajbanshi remained not out for 0.
Kathmandu’s pacer Abinash Bohara claimed 4 wickets for the winning side expending only 13 runs in 3.1 overs. Further, Azmatullah Omarzai took 2 wickets whereas Kamal Singh Airee, Anil Kharel, and Basir Ahamad picked a piece.
